PowColor

Schüco PowColor is the umbrella term for the Schüco powder-coating process which has been used for decades to durably finish aluminium and steel surfaces. There are three levels of surface finishing: “façade quality”, “highly weather-resistant” and “maximum weather resistance”. The “façade quality” range includes the Schüco pearl colours, the Schüco Fine Texture and DuraClean. The “highly weather-resistant” range comprises the Schüco AnoLine, Schüco MetallicLine, Schüco Metallic Trend colours and Schüco WetLine products. To finish the aluminium surfaces using powder and enhance the architecture, polyester powder is principally used in “façade quality”, i.e. approved for outside use. An even powder film is applied not only to the main visible surfaces by means of the electrostatic powdering, but also on the adjacent visible surfaces by means of “wrapping”. The powder, which is well bonded due to the charge during the process, will also, if applicable, be sintered then melted and cross-linked between 160°C and 190°C. The overall look of the coating is affected by various factors. These include:
  • the flow of the powder (smooth to textured)
  • the pigments of the powder (colour shade and effect)
  • the gloss level of the powder by means of additives and
  • the specific burn-in conditions
In addition, special powders – these include metallic powders and highly/maximally weather-resistant powders with specific characteristics – sometimes require differing conditions in order to ensure the desired effect/your desired function.
